All students need the opportunity to be actively involved in the life of their school, the activities of their classroom and in the wider community.

There are learners with many types of physical disabilities, including mobility-related disabilities, health and medical disabilities who may find it difficult to accomplish these goals. As a result, they may lack confidence and feel different to their peers and out of place at times. To overcome these barriers teachers may need to adapt tasks, the classroom setting and/or introduce technology for students to participate and contribute.Teachers may also need to create opportunities for students to build friendships, develop a positive sense of self and take part in group activities they can enjoy and are good at.
